Family Caregiver Resources for Arkansans
The first step to successful caregiving is taking care of yourself. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a relative or friend. You will benefit from this class whether you are helping a parent, spouse, friend, someone who lives at home, in a nursing home, or across the country.
The program is a six week course supports caregivers by enhancing self-care behaviors,
examining ways to manage emotions, encouraging self-efficacy, and promoting the use
of community resources. Each session is customized with interactive lessons to equip family caregivers with tools
needed to take care of themselves while taking care of someone else.
The Powerful Tools for Caregivers class has been shown to have a positive impact on caregiver health for a diverse group of caregivers including rural, ethnic minorities, adult children of aging parents, well-spouses/partners, caregivers at differing stages in their caregiving role, living situations, financial and educational backgrounds.
