Pesticide Collection Event at Fairgrounds
Dispose of old, outdated, unusable pesticides from your farm free of charge and in complete confidentiality, March 28, 2016.TEXARKANA, Ark. –
Do you need to dispose of old, outdated, unusable pesticides from your farm or household free of charge and in complete confidentiality?
They will be at the Four States Fairground, 3700 East 50th Street, Texarkana, Arkansas, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2016.
Both known and unknown wastes will be accepted, including outdated, discontinued, or unwanted agricultural pesticides (insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides); or particular interest are older pesticides known to be more toxic, such as arsenicals, DDT, silvex, heptachlor, dieldrin, lindane, toxaphene, and 2,4,5-T.
Not accepted are explosives and ordinance; petroleum products, paints, medical wastes, radioactive substances, household pesticides and chemicals. If unsure, contact your county Farm Bureau or Extension Office.
This free disposal opportunity is made available through funding from the Arkansas Abandoned Pesticide Trust Fund in cooperation with Arkansas Farm Bureau, the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, and your county government.
