The Tri County Pecan Demonstration team is working to monitor moisture in pecans as we move into the dog days of summer. Pecan trees use 80 gallons of water a day at a minimum. As the heat increases and rain decreases the use of moisture sensors is vital for a successful pecan crop. The technology being used and the research in irrigation helps producers adjust watering to keep the pecan crop maturing at a suitable pace.
