MOUNT IDA, Ark. -- Juniors and seniors from Oden and Mount Ida schools will be learning real-life lessons about money management on April 24 as part of “Get Real -- Here’s the Deal.”
“’Get Real -- Here’s the Deal’ is a simulation for high school students that gives them the opportunity to experience their future in a financial decision-making mode,” said Amy Monk, Montgomery County extension agent for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. “Youth are encouraged to make wise financial lifestyle decisions -- similar to those faced each month by adults.”
Participants move from station to station, making decisions based on their family size and affordability.
“Our stations will be operated by 24 community members representing various sectors of services and business,” she said.
The session is organized by the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension Service and takes place at Mount Ida High School from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.
