26th Annual Home & Garden Seminar & Show at Pine Bluff Feb. 8

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Media personality Chris Olsen and Garvan Woodland Gardens’ Bob Byers will be the keynote speakers Feb. 8 at the 26th annual Home & Garden Show & Seminar at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

Attendance is free, and registration is requested.

This year’s show features more than 130 booths and fun for the entire family, including a kids/teens corner, “Art in the Garden” contest for local school students, food samples, Tablescape drawings, and many, many door prizes, including a quilt valued at $600. How-to sessions include building rain barrels, home security and terrarium making.

Doors open at 8 a.m., with how-to sessions set for 9 a.m., 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Olsen, a nationally known landscape designer and owner of Botanica Gardens in Little Rock, will speak at 11 a.m. Byers, the associate executive director and staff landscape architect at Garvan Woodland Gardens, speaks at 1 p.m. The Jefferson County judge will be awarding the prizes in the "Art in the Garden" contest at 10:30 a.m.

 The Master Gardeners of Jefferson County’s booth will have Master Gardeners available to answer questions. Information will also be available on the upcoming Master Gardener training class scheduled on five Thursdays beginning in March. 

Also at the show:

  • A health fair, cooking demonstration for diabetics, and a blood drive.
  • Concession stand run by Jefferson County 4-H members.

Booth space is still available for vendors for $60 for a booth and $25 for each additional adjoining space. Call Lloyd Wessels, 870 692-0151, for booth information and reservations.  Proceeds benefit area youth and community garden education programs.

The Home and Garden Show is sponsored by the Jefferson County Master Gardeners, Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Clean and Beautiful Commission, and Jefferson County Extension Service. The Arkansas Master Gardeners is a program of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service.

The Cooperative Extension Service is part of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
