Big Creek Research & Extension Team launches website

Fast Facts:

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The team of scientists studying the potential impact of a hog farm on Big Creek, a tributary of the Buffalo River, has launched a website that includes research data, reports and news about their work.

The site, www.bigcreekresearch.org, includes project reports, field sites, presentations and materials related to livestock management and water quality.

Public interest in the research has been high and the team members felt the website would be the simplest way to reach the most people.

“The web page details the breadth and depth of science, research and monitoring that is being conducted on the C&H farm and Big Creek by the team,” said Andrew Sharpley, research team lead and professor at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. “As reports and data become available, they will be posted on the site. Since we started the project in October 2013, we have collected and analyzed more than 450 water and 460 soil samples.”

The Big Creek Research and Extension Team is made up of University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture faculty and staff.

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, disability, marital or veteran status, genetic information, or any other legally protected status, and is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
