Carson scholarship application deadline March 10

LITTLE ROCK – College-bound high school seniors planning to pursue a degree in horticulture or other agriculture-related fields are eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship named in honor of extension horticulture specialist Janet Carson.

The scholarship is being offered by County 76, the statewide advisory group for the Arkansas Master Gardener program, part of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture’s Cooperative Extension Service.

The amount will apply to the 2017-18 academic year. The deadline to apply is March 10. 

“This scholarship is a way to encourage those who desire a career in one of the horticulture or agriculture-related fields,” said Julie Treat, an extension horticulture program technician with the Division of Agriculture. “These fields can include botany, agronomy, forestry, plant science, turf management, landscape architecture or landscape design.” 

The application may be downloaded as a PDF or Word document from: http://www.uaex.uada.edu/yard-garden/master-gardeners/default.aspx. The completed application should be returned to: County 76 Master Gardener Scholarship Committee; c/o Holly Beason; 2301 South University Avenue; Little Rock, Arkansas 72204 no later than March 10, 2017.  It is anticipated that the scholarships will be awarded in May of 2017.
