Division of Ag’s community development program names Arkansas Goat Festival organizer winner of people’s choice award

LITTLE ROCK – A Perry, Arkansas resident was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the recent community and economic development conference in Little Rock for a five-minute presentation promoting the Arkansas Goat Festival.
Sarah French, a co-owner of Crescent Creek Farms in Perry and an alum of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture’s LeadAR leadership training program, delivered a five-minute talk known as an “IGNITE” presentation at the Breakthrough Solutions Conference on June 8.
Breakthrough Solutions is a program of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, with a purpose to equip communities and regions to prosper in the 21st century economy and partners in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
Mark Peterson, Professor of Community and Economic Development for the Division of Agriculture, said the award reflects the strength of the impression French made on her fellow conference attendees.
“The People’s Choice Award is given to the most compelling IGNITE presentation at the conference,” Peterson said. “The conference participants all vote to select the winner.”
French created the Arkansas Goat Festival, which features live music and a wide variety of goat-related activities, including goat races, a goat cheese making demonstration, goat yoga and much more.
The first Arkansas Goat Festival took place in 2016 in Perryville. The festival will return Oct. 7.
