FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Pesticide recertification, integrated pest management and basic landscape design are all on the lineup for the Landscape Expo Feb. 20 at the Don Tyson Center for Agricultural Sciences.
The expo gives growers the chance to renew their commercial applicator license for pesticides as well as discuss landscape maintenance and products, and ask questions, said Ryan Neal, Benton County extension agent for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
“This is an opportunity for recertification training in all ornamental pesticide application as well as private applicators,” Neal said. “In addition to certification, anyone dealing with landscapes in northwest Arkansas will benefit from the information that will be presented here.”
The agenda:
- 9 a.m. — “Reading Landscape Plans and Basic Landscape Design” — Karen Hanna-Towne
- 10 a.m. — “Integrated Pest Management” — Aaron Cato, extension horticulture IPM specialist, Division of Agriculture
- 11 a.m. — “Application Equipment and Environmental Concerns” — Jason Davis, extension spray application technologist for the Division of Agriculture
- 12 p.m. — Lunch
- 12:30 p.m. — “Landscape Problems and Solutions” — Jim Robbins, extension horticulture specialist — Ornamentals, for the Division of Agriculture
- 2 p.m. — “Turf Weeds and Controls” — John Boyd, visiting assistant professor for the department of crop, soil & environmental science
- 3 p.m. — “Safety, Labeling, and Laws” — Ryan Neal, Benton County extension agent for the Division of Agriculture and Colin Massey, Washington County extension agent for the Division of Agriculture
The registration deadline is Feb. 17 and the $25 fee includes lunch.
