LITTLE ROCK – High school seniors planning to pursue a degree in a plant science field have until March 1 to apply for a $1,000 scholarship named for Janet B. Carson, retired extension horticulture specialist for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

Students must be planning to attend a college or university within the state of Arkansas.

“This scholarship was established to encourage students to pursue their love of plant science, whether they plan to study horticulture, botany, agronomy, forestry, plant science, landscape architecture/design, and turf management,” said Julie Treat, an extension horticulture program technician with the Division of Agriculture.

The application may be downloaded from https://www.uaex.uada.edu/yard-garden/master-gardeners/. The completed application should be returned to: County 76 Master Gardener Scholarship Committee; c/o Holly Beason; 2301 S. University Ave.; Little Rock, Arkansas 72204, no later than March 1.

The scholarship monies are raised by members of County 76, the statewide advisory group for the Arkansas Master Gardener program, offered by the Cooperative Extension Service which is part of the Division of Agriculture.
