LITTLE ROCK – Never seem to have any money? America Saves Week, Feb. 25-March 2, could be the beginning of the end for your empty piggy bank.
The Cooperative Extension Service is working as a partner with the Consumer Federation of America to mark America Saves Week and encourage everyone to take that first step toward greater financial security.
“Learning to save can ease the stress of living paycheck to paycheck. Financial security brings peace of mind.” said Laura Hendrix, associate professor and extension personal finance expert for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. “America Saves is designed to provide easy ways for people to put money aside and build financial security.”
“America Saves is a way to help individuals save automatically, more effectively, sustainably, and to develop a habit of saving,” she said.
The Division of Agriculture offers many online resources to Arkansans interested in participating in the America Saves program. Individuals can begin by visiting www.uaex.uada.edu/money to take the online pledge, and sign up to receive email or text message reminders to help them stay on course toward their saving goals.
Individuals can take a free online courses on financial saving and other topics at http://learn.uada.edu/. And interested Arkansans can also garner a wealth of financial advice by visiting the Virtual Financial Fair at http://learn.uada.edu/.
