April 1 webinar to review proposed changes to Agriculture and the National Environmental Policy Act

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In January, the Council on Environmental Quality sought regulatory overhaul for the National Environmental Policy Act, the first significant change to the act since it was passed in 1970.
The National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA, requires federal agencies to consider the environmental impacts of their actions before taking them, by drafting either an environmental assessment or an environmental impact statement. Although the CEQ has not made any significant changes to the NEPA regulations in decades, the potential changes could be extensive.
“These proposed regulations are essentially a comprehensive overhaul of how NEPA is currently implemented,” said Brigit Rollins, staff attorney for the National Agricultural Law Center. “It would have an effect on what types of projects receive NEPA review, what kinds of environmental impacts will be considered, and much more.”
Karen Carr, a Washington, D.C.-based partner and co-leader of the Agricultural Technology group at Arent Fox LLP, will lead a webinar discussing NEPA and its potential changes on April 1 at noon EDT.
“In this webinar I will address the basics of NEPA and walk through recently proposed changes,” Carr said. “We will also look at various reactions to these proposed changes, and how they may impact the intersection of NEPA and agriculture.”
