MONTICELLO, Ark. — Food, Fellowship and Cattle – That is what’s being offered at the Fourth Annual Aggie Comeback hosted by the University of Arkansas at Monticello Farms on Saturday, April 26.
This event hosted on UAM’s campus invites all UAM ag alumni, cattle producers, students and friends of agriculture for a hands-on and educational gathering.
The day kicks off with a breakfast at 8 a.m., courtesy of AgUp Equipment, followed by a series of informative and practical sessions from industry and business professionals. Speakers include Bill Stephens, vice president of lending and regional manager for AgHeritage Farm Credit Services, who will discuss business plan develop for beef production. He will be followed by Maggie Justice, beef cattle specialist for the Cooperative Extension Service, who will discuss maximizing herd success.
Attendees will then get a hands-on opportunity with a tour of the UAM farms led by the farm manager, Greg Montgomery. This will be followed by a lunch provided by AgHeritage Farm Credit Services.
The event will conclude with a cattle sale offering some of the best genetics from UAM Farms. The auction will include four registered Beefmaster bulls, 15 commercial bred heifers and one cow-calf pair.
“I have been attending the Aggie Comeback since it started and have always been impressed with the cattle up for auction,” said Jason Meier, UAM alumnus. “I bought three replacement heifers at the 2022 auction and have been very pleased with them on our farm. If you are looking for quality cattle out of South Arkansas, you will not want to miss this sale.”
Throughout the day, vendors will be on campus to showcase the latest equipment. Jeff Monk and Rusty Smith with 4M Equipment will be on site with Arrowquip cattle handling equipment on display for producers and to assist with loading cattle. John David Herren with AgUp will also be on site displaying the latest John Deere hay baling equipment.
Whether you're a seasoned producer or a student interested in agriculture, the Aggie Comeback is a great opportunity to gain insights from ag experts and enjoy the company of fellow cattle enthusiasts.
