  • Selected by Andorra Nursery in 1907
  • Differs from Bar Harbor Juniper (Juniperus horizontalis 'Bar Harbor') in that growth is symmetrical and it is slightly taller

  • Size: low (8" tall by 8' wide) needle evergreen
  • Needles: green summer color; steel blue winter color
  • Culture: full sun; drought tolerant once established; avoid overhead watering
  • Disease/insect: twig blights common due to high humidity and overhead watering
  • Use: very low groundcover; slopes
  • These cultivars are mostly selected from sand dunes along the Eastern seaboard

  • Culture: best in partial shade; moist soil

  • Use: massed, mixed shrub bed
  • Cultivars: Usually sold in pairs: male ('Blue Boy'; Blue Prince') and female ('Blue Girl'; 'Blue Princess')
  • Bred by Mrs. Meserve in the early 1950's for cold hardiness of evergreen hollies
