How to Make Fruit Infused Water

by Nancy Hightower - July 8, 2022

It’s summer and we are all feeling the heat! It’s important to stay cool and hydrated all year long, but summer weather tends to remind us just how important hydration is. When choosing a beverage to keep you hydrated, water is the healthiest option.

This poses an issue for some who may not like water either because it isn’t flavorful or for other reasons. Whatever the case may be, here are some great fruit infused water recipes to satisfy both your thirst and your taste buds!Clear pitcher on a table with water and sliced lemon in it. A half lemon sits at the base of the pitcher.

What will you need?

  • A gallon pitcher
  • Ice
  • Plain water, bottle or tap
  • Fruit of your choice

Strawberry and Pineapple Fruit Water

  1. Slice two cups of strawberries
  2. Slice one pineapple or use one can of pineapple. If you use canned pineapple, be sure to use pineapple that is canned in 100% pineapple juice rather than syrup or water. This will help the flavor remain potent and will eliminate added sugar.
  3. Add sliced strawberries and pineapple to the pitcher.
  4. Add two cups or more of ice to the pitcher.
  5. Fill the pitcher with water to the top and stir.
  6. Refrigerate for a few hours or overnight for maximum fruit flavor infusion.
  7. Serve chilled or over ice.

Watermelon and Rosemary

  1. Dice two cups of watermelon.
  2. Cut two sprigs of rosemary.
  3. Add watermelon and rosemary to your pitcher.
  4. Add two cups or more of ice.
  5. Fill the pitcher with water to the top and stir.
  6. Refrigerate for a few hours or overnight for maximum fruit flavor infusion.
  7. Serve chilled or over ice.Assortment of fruit as an example of what can be included in fruit infused water. The fruit pictured contains berries, grapes, oranges, limes, pears, kumquats, and kiwi.

What are some other flavor combinations?

  1. Cucumber and lemon
  2. Grapefruit and mint
  3. Cherry and Lime
  4. Mango and Pineapple

Tips:

  • For parties or special occasions, make water the night before so it’s infused and chilled in time for the event.
  • Try different flavor combinations. Be creative!
  • Remove fruit from water after 24 hours so it doesn’t go bad. You can continue to refrigerate the water for a couple days after.
  • Don’t be afraid to add spice! Cinnamon can go great with many fruit combinations like oranges and apples.
  • To dress up your infused water, make fruit and flower ice cubes! Boil water to get clearer ice cubes, pour your boiled water into ice trays, and add dice fruit, berries, or edible flowers, and freeze! Using ice cube trays with bigger ice cubes will look best!
