Llamas and Alpacas

Llamas and alpacas are very similar to sheep and goats, in that they are small ruminant animals that also can experience parasite problems. Unlike sheep and goats that have a four compartment stomach, llamas and alpacas only have three.

Llamas and alpacas vary in their uses. If  you are looking for a livestock guardian animal, then you might consider a llama. They are natural guardians and can be used to guard cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry. Alpacas, on the other hand, are known more for their fiber production and as companion pets.
