Fortunate Turn of Events for the Lamberts

Dennis Lambert and his wife, Rebecca, are small-business owners who were interested in bidding on a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contract for the maintenance of campgrounds. When they were advised of needing a System for Award Management (SAM) registration to perform the work, they were unsure where to begin.

"I did a few searches on the web and ran across companies that offered paid services to help," Dennis Lambert said. "That was a huge mistake."

After paying a third-party company more than $500 to complete the process for them, they believed everything was seamless, until they discovered they did not have access to their own entity registration. Upon logging in, they found that it was not under their control. They could not make updates or even confirm that the information listed was correct. They felt stuck, frustrated, and unsure what to do next.

Following their disappointment, they reached out for help and were connected with Arkansas APEX Accelerator Procurement Counselor Kenneth Griffin Jr.

“Kenneth walked us through every step required to regain control of our registration. He explained what needed to be changed, guided us and ensured us that the account was in good standing,” Dennis Lambert said.

In a fortunate turn of events, once the third-party company learned that Arkansas APEX Accelerator was assisting the Lamberts, they promptly issued a full refund. The Lamberts were relieved.

Not long after the ordeal, they received a three-year park attendant contract with Aunts Creek on Table Rock Lake, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—an achievement that marked a turning point for their business.

Today, the Lamberts are grateful for the dedication and expertise Griffin provided and the knowledgeable staff at the Arkansas APEX Accelerator. What began as a frustrating experience turned into a success story—one that strengthened their business and set them up for continued growth.
