Protect Our Waterways: Don't Litter
How Does Litter Impact Water?
When litter isn't picked up, it gets carried to storm drains by rainwater. From there, it flows untreated into creeks and streams.
No one enjoys swimming or recreating in litter-filled waters, and litter can also harm wildlife that might mistake it for food or get tangled in it.
What is Considered Litter?
Litter comes in many shapes and sizes, from cigarette butts to bulky household waste. Anything not properly disposed of is considered litter.
Littering can be intentional or unintentional, such as debris flying out from truck beds. Secure your items well and keep a litter bag in your car to contain trash while traveling.
