What's for Breakfast?
by Lindsey Sexton - February 7, 2024
February is Hot Breakfast Month and we are ready to celebrate! Breakfast has long
been hailed as the most important meal of the day, and for good reason. As we go through
the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's easy to overlook starting our day with
a nutritious meal. Here's why and how you can get your day off to a good start with
a hot breakfast.
The Benefits of Breakfast
Having a balanced breakfast supplies our brains with essential nutrients. As a result,
our memory, attention, and overall cognitive function improve, particularly in children
and teenagers. Aim to include at least 1 fruit or vegetable in your morning meal to
get your day off to the right start.
Eating a nutritious breakfast also helps regulate appetite throughout the day, reducing
the likelihood of overeating later on. First thing in the morning is a great time
to practice paying attention to your satiety cues.
A balanced breakfast sets the tone for a day of improved metabolism, cognitive function,
mindfulness and health. So, let's make a conscious effort to fuel our bodies right,
recognizing the invaluable role that breakfast plays in optimizing our overall health
and productivity.
